Around 30 members enjoyed a pleasant evening talk and walk around Rattlesden Airfield on 7 July.
Hosted by USAF 447 Bomber Squad historian and museum curator, Chris French, we enjoyed a 2.8-mile walk around the old site, exploring the sites and extraordinary stories of bravery in this period.
Chris delivered a superb tour and insight into the operations on the site and interaction of the base and village life.
The museum, sited in the control tower, is a superb collection and tribute to the 447s, and very much worth a visit.
The next opportunity will be at the Gliding Club Open Day on 31st August.
